The Unsinkable Walker Bean
Aaron Renier

He's pudgy, bespectacled, mild, and meek... and very much a geek. The last thing colonial amateur inventor, Walker Bean, ever wanted to do was attempt a rip-roaring pirate adventure.
But his beloved story-telling grandfather is deathly sick—all because of a pearl skull his grandfather dared to look at. According to Grandpa, the skull was made by two lobster-like merwitches, Tartessa and Remora, who live deep in a trench at the bottom of the sea. The only

way to break their curse is to return the skull. Since Walker's father would surely sell it, it's up to Walker to get the job done!
He stows away on a ship, but how does he get it to go where he wants it to go? In short time, this amateur inventor turns the ship into a proto-type all terrain vehicle, and the captain is fooled by a large canvas that depicts Walker's night sky.
