Down, Down, Down : A Journey to the Bottom of the Sea
Steve Jenkins
Let’s go from the surface of the ocean down, down, down to the ocean’s floor.

Most of the Pacific sea life actually lives in just the first 100 feet of the ocean. But below that, seven miles deep, a whole new world of sea creatures exists in conditions that are affected by the amount of sunlight, water pressure, and temperature.

The surface zone is home to the dolphin and flying fish. The sunlight zone swims with green turtles and sailfish. The deeper we go, the
weirder the creatures become. In the twilight zone the lizard fish flashes its rows of needlepoint teeth while putting on an impressive bioluminescence show. The dark zone hides the sperm whale and the giant squid while flat fish lay in the bottom sands. Other strange animals include the Mola Mola (read the book to find out!) and the hagfish.

What other new and strange creatures live down, down, down in the very deepest parts of the ocean?
