| The Texas Bluebonnet Award reading program was established in 1979 to encourage Texas children in grades 3-6 to read more books, explore a variety of current books, develop powers of discrimination, and identify their favorite books. Students vote for their favorite books from master lists, a process which provides educators, parents, and writers with insight into young students' reading preferences. |
