Back in the day—in the “good ol' days”—magic was an everyday thing, and indispensable.

Today, drain cleaner is cheaper to use to unclog drains than spells, and magic flying carpets are used for menial delivery jobs. Delivery jobs... when once they bore the greatest spell-casters in the land!

Jennifer Strange is facing unemployment. Her agency, Kazam, works to find jobs for
magicians to do, but with fewer and fewer people relying on magic these days, Kazam faces closure. Magic is drying up.

Then the visions start. Jennifer sees the death of the very last dragon on Sunday at noon. Maltcassion guards Dragonland, and he is to be killed by very Last Dragonslayer…and Jennifer has just been named the Last Dragonslayer! She’s not crazy about killing a dragon but what's a sixteen-year-old to do?
