about the book

His name is Scottish Play Doe (his parents like acting). Please, call him Scott. Scott and his family have just moved to Goodborough, New Jersey, where the community is basically run by the Goodco Cereal Company.

On his first day of school Scott has another of what he thinks is a migraine-induced hallucination in which he sees a “clurichaun,” a magical being like a leprechaun, who calls himself Mick. However, Mick is very real. He claims “sanctuary” with Scott, telling him he has to help him escape the Goodco Cereal Company—escape, or help Mick get his magic back from the evil corporation!
You see, Goodco has disenfranchised many magical beings, using their magic to become a cereal empire. But it is the company’s origins that are the real mystery!

Together with Mick and his new human friends, the genius siblings Erno and Emily Utz, Scott searches for the truth about Goodco, and perhaps for a way to take them down.

Adam Rex: 80kg; made up of mostly H2O and carbon; visible in most light spectrums.

On a less-scientific note, Adam’s life began in Phoenix, Arizona. The middle of three children, Adam got passed over for brains (that went to his older brother) and for cuteness (younger brother), but Adam got the drawing talent. He began painting when he was eleven and took art classes when he could. He grew up and got a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona.

Adam met his physicist wife, Marie, at the University of Arizona, too. Today they live in Tuscon, where Adam does all his artwork and internet surfing, as well as public radio listening.

Adam never remembers anyone’s name unless he hears it three times or more. Some of his favorite things include spacemen, animals, monsters, food, food, puppets, food, and comic books. He is impervious to crosses and silver bullets (not a vampire). But sunlight is somewhat effective (still not a vampire, just easily burned).
