about the book

As far as Molly is concerned, she is just a more-brainy-than-average kid attending New York City’s MIST school, the Metropolitan Institute of Science and Technology out on Roosevelt Island. She deals with homework, extra-curricular activities, and friend drama just like anyone else.

But as far as the city’s underworld is concerned, Molly is the daughter of the most revered and feared zombie hunter the city has ever known. And, though she doesn’t know it, her mother’s zombie-killing genes have gotten into Molly.

As her genes wake up, Molly is recruited by her friends Alex, Grayson, and Natalie into Omega, the secret agency her mother works for. Omega polices the zombies of the Dead City, which is the under-city of New York, and fights them if they ever try to make it up to the surface world. Omega teaches Molly judo and fencing and any number of cool, secret agent skills, all of which Molly picks up like a breeze, thanks to her mother.

Everything is going well, until Molly’s first assignment goes sour: someone has left undead bodies, drained of all blood, in the pattern of the Greek letter Omega. It is a clear sign: someone has it out for Omega, and if Molly cannot stop them, the whole organization may be in danger.

Born in Italy, raised in Florida, and educated in California, James Ponti is no stranger to travel.

After marrying his college sweetheart James moved to New York for a time, the city that inspired him to write Dead City. Now, he cannot reveal to you, by order of a non-disclosure agreement contract, whether or not he has himself fought a zombie.
