about the book

escape from the lizzarks

Herk is a Nnewt who lives in the quiet village of Nnewtown, where the Nnewts are a happy community worshiping the constellation Orion. Only, not all is well for Herk. It’s his legs. They are shriveled and cannot support his body, so he is confined to his family’s spawning pool. His mother and father wish they could give him stronger legs so Herk could have a normal life, but their love for him is none the lesser.

One day calamity strikes when the evil Lizzarks sweep into Nnewtown, killing Herk’s parents and everyone he knows. Herk is forced to flee and leave the only life he has ever known.

Pursued by the Lizzarks, Herk encounters a series of characters who become his allies and travel with him, seeing mysterious wonders, and ultimately priming him to face the Snake Lord himself—the being responsible for cursing Herk’s legs while he was still in the egg!
