about the author

Lamar Giles had been reading and writing for a long time. His mother would often say no to a new G.I. Joe or Transformer, but she always said yes to books. This encouraged him to keep reading and inspired him to write his own stories.

One of his first stories was about a giant dinosaur from a box of breakfast cereal. It earned him first place in his grade’s Young Author contest.

Since then Lamar has written a lot more and received many rejections. Then one editor took a chance on his high school murder mystery, which became Fake ID.

Lamar grew up in Hopewell, Virginia. He currently lives in Chesapeake, Virginia, with his wife. He hopes to have a dog someday.
