about the book

New in town, Flynn Doyle is complicated, secretive, and brooding, but that is what Morgan Tulley likes about him. He doesn’t talk about his parents, wants nothing to do with her friends, and generally regards all people with disdain. Morgan is the one thing in the dying Massachusetts town of River’s End that he doesn’t hate. He says she is the only good thing in his life.

Then everything changes in a flash. On her way to a late night party, she spots him on the road outside the abandoned amusement park. At first she is happy to see him, but the encounter spirals quickly into an argument started by the anxious and antsy Flynn…and he breaks up with her! Confused, crushed, Morgan watches Flynn walk away. Suddenly racing headlights bullet straight toward him! Flynn is rammed and tossed into the air, and the driver never even slows down! Morgan rushes to Flynn’s crumpled body. Though he is still alive when the ambulance arrives, the emergency room docs tell her they were unable to save him.

Still in mourning three months later, Morgan wanders the streets capturing the town’s decline with her camera lens. The top employer, Stell Pharmaceutical, was accused of producing deadly migraine pills and closed its doors. Now the town’s other businesses are failing and families are abandoning their homes. Hoping to help Morgan get over her loss and focus on something positive, a friend suggests setting up a tribute to Flynn on FriendShare, a social website. Morgan has just one photo of the camera shy Flynn. When they upload it, the facial recognition program identifies Flynn as Evan Murphy!

What the heck is going on here, Morgan wonders? Cautiously, secretly, Morgan investigates and learns that Evan, a dead ringer for Flynn, is alive and lives in a nearby town. Determined to get answers, things quickly rocket out of control as Morgan uncovers startling clues, false identities, a massive web of lies, a cop on the take, and very dangerous secrets…secrets the reader will never see coming!

about the author

K.A. Harrington has been a mystery and paranormal fan all her life. When the monthly book club flyers arrived in her elementary classes, she’d always picked books with dark spooky covers. One of her best memories is when she talked her father into reading Stephen King’s scary adult novel, Pet Sematary, out loud together! She was only ten and, of course, had to skip the swear words! That time spent with her dad turned her into a voracious reader, and eventually into a writer.

K. A. Harrington has been writing for some time, mostly for reluctant readers. Everyone knows her by her real first name, Kim, and that is the name she uses when she writes the Sleuth or Dare series, nerdy mystery paranormal books for middle grade readers. Though she has written The Clarity series for teens, Forget Me is her first psychological thriller, and since it is an intense dark tale, her editors thought a using a pen name would be best!

Kim lives in Massachusetts with her husband and their son. When she is not writing, she’s probably parked on the couch watching her favorite TV program. She’s pretty psyched that Warner Brothers has optioned her Clarity series for television. It will be her new most favorite program!

Kim claims most of her ideas come to her in the car, in the shower, or in bed. She also is influenced by music, true crimes, and the news. A huge Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys fan, she writes for kids because she likes to combine mystery with humor. Also, her son is a middle grader, and she wants to write books he will enjoy.

Here are some facts about this lefty. First, she believes sarcasm is a real art. She loves the smell of coffee but hates the taste so she starts each morning with a can of Coke. And she is a Disney World fanatic; she’s been there 17 times!
