about the book

This is a story of four puppies. Three are named Fi-Fi, Foo-Foo, and Ooh-La-La, and are the size of teacups. Gaston, the fourth, is the size of a tea pot!

Mrs. Poodle loves all four of them, doting on them and doing her best to teach them how to be proper pooches. Fi-Fi, Foo-Foo, and Ooh-La-La have an easy time sipping, yipping, and walking with grace. But for Gaston, it is much easier to slobber and yap and race on his four large legs! He tries his best, and he loves his poodle sisters, but obviously something is not quite right.

A chance encounter with Mrs. Bulldog in the park one day, with her bulldog pups Rocky, Ricky, and Bruno—and Antoinette, a poodle—reveals that obviously there has been a mix-up. Gaston and Antoinette decide to switch families.

But maybe they were happy in their adoptive families anyway. Where do Gaston and Antoinette truly belong?

teachingbooks-bookabout the author

Growing up in Michigan in the 1970s, Kelly DiPucchio (pronounced Dih-Pooch-Ee-Oh) was just your average kid with a goat, clothes ordered from the Sears catalog, oversized glasses, and big wild hair.

She was passionate about books, but thought becoming an author was akin to wishing to be a fairy godmother. An impossible dream! She wanted to be a famous singer…but that wasn’t very realistic either…she couldn’t sing a note.

After graduating from the Michigan State University, Kelly got married and had three children. When she started writing a children’s picture book, she never guessed that it would take her six years and over 200 rejections until she finally found a publisher. Now she is an acclaimed New York Times Best Selling author …even better than a fairy godmother!

Kelly lives in Macomb Township, Michigan, with her husband, three children, Whimsy their dog (who barks at imaginary rabbits and eats Barbie dolls as well as crayons), and NugNug their dwarf hamster (who chomps on fingers).

about the illustrator

Christian Robinson is all about the art of having fun, and the way he has fun is in creating art. Neat how that works, right? He studied art at the California Institute of the Arts, earning a BFA in character Animation in 2008. He has worked with Pixar Animation Studios, Jib Jab, and the Sesame Street Workshop.

As a kid, Christian loved working with his hands. He liked making drawings, paintings and sculptures. It allowed him to be in charge and set the rules and he created his own little worlds in his artwork. All grown up, he now has a studio in an old converted warehouse where other artists work, too. Many of his new pieces of art are made from collages. After cutting and gluing down pieces of paper, he uses paints or colored pencil to add details. He finds it is a lot of fun to experiment with different mediums and techniques.

Christian lives and works in San Francisco, where he tries to blur the line between work and play as much as he can.
