about the book

In fifth grade, both Libby and May were “the new girls” at school. They were also both exiled from PE class: Libby’s leg was in a cast and May had terrible asthma.

So instead of running laps, they created Princess X who lives in a haunted house and carries a katana sword. Over the years, Libby drew and May wrote the Princess X’s stories.

But it all came to a crashing end. Literally. Libby and her mom died in a car crash.

Now sixteen, May is resigned to another lonely summer. Then she spots a Princess X sticker in a store’s window. There’s even a webcomic at IAmPrincessX.com!

Since Cherie Priest’s father was in the Army, she moved around a lot while growing up. By the time she was in college, she’d lived in Florida, Texas, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

She’s always wanted to be a writer. As she puts it, “I’m not very good at anything else… but I’ve got to say, I’m happy with how it’s turned out!”

With over fifteen novels published, you’d think Cherie would be running out of character names, but she not. She collects names. Cemeteries and local news broadcasts provide lots of possibilities!

Cherie is “inordinately fond of zombies,” has an aversion to unfinished ceramics, and is allergic to yellow dye #7.

She currently lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with her husband and assortment of animals.
