about the book

A boy wakes up on the planet Trucon behind a high-security fence he shouldn’t have been able to breach. He has an annirad blaster wound on the back of his head, and he has no memory of who he is. Now some mysterious benefactor seems to be protecting him. The only bit of information the boy has to go on is a message, as cryptic as it is mysterious.

“Guide the star.”

When he meets gamer and hacker Parker, the boy learns some of who he is from a damaged computer chip in his head. His name is Chase Garrety, and together with Parker and Mina, an ultra-strong android, the three begin searching out the meaning of “Guide the star.”

Their search puts them in the way of a conflict between the Federation and a rebel group known as the Karsha Ven. The stakes become cosmic in significance as the conflict reveals a secret about Chase’s identity.
