about the book
The accident happened just over a month ago, on her eighteenth birthday. Out of the hospital for more than a week now, Allie should be on the mend…but she is not. Her scars are far deeper than the lacerations. The pain goes to the depth of her very soul.
The accident took the life of Trip Phillips, Allie’s boyfriend. She has no clue how she ended up bruised and battered on the side of the road, while Trip’s Chevy pickup plunged over the cliff and into the water below. Trip’s dad, the richest man in town, demands to know the truth, and now there is a new police detective in town who is determined to get answers.
With her loving family’s supportive help, Allie tries to put her life back together, but under the town’s microscope, it is impossible to move on. Everyone thought they were the perfect couple. And when the school’s bad boy, Blake, gets too close, rumors fly.
Slowly, bit by tiny bit, Allie’s memories flash back and she pieces together the truth…a truth that is just too horrible. So Allie lies. Trip was abusive, both emotionally and physically, and that abuse was escalating fast. And now even though her abuser is dead, the affects of his abuse are far from gone. With every memory comes a chilling thought…what if the accident was not an accident?
Then the notes begin to arrive in her school locker, threatening notes…in Trip’s handwriting.
about the author
Jennifer Shaw Wolf grew up in Wilford, Idaho, on the family farm. Her school years were a little different than most kids. She skipped classes each October to help with the potato harvest and took Hunter’s Education in sixth grade. She loved the gun range, where the girls proved to be far better shots than the boys!
In middle school, she started an underground newspaper. In high school, she wrote all the sports copy for the yearbook. Though a talented writer, she didn’t spend much of her free time with pen and paper. In fact, she spent most weekends dragging Main Street in her red ’71 Malibu. (It was a sweet ride, except the heater was permanently stuck on full blast and the horn beeped every time she stepped on the brake.)
She majored in broadcast communications at Brigham Young University-Idaho and was one of the first DJs on the campus radio station. She met her future husband there when he dropped her on her head during a volley ball game—love at first bonk! A year later they married and moved to Provo, where Jennifer worked for a local television studio and at a small motion picture company.
While sharing Twilight with her teen daughter, Jennifer tinkered with the idea of actually writing a book. After getting tips from a published family member, she began to write from her heart. A niece, who read her first manuscripts, kept telling her to write faster!
Now she lives in the peaceful forests of Lacey, Washington, with her professional photographer husband. When she isn’t cleaning up after her four kids, she writes, mostly while carpooling!
