The Beginning of Everything

about the book

Ezra Faulkner was the golden boy of his high school: captain of the tennis team, boyfriend of a pretty girl, in a clique of the most popular and highly esteemed.

All that ended after the car accident. His knee shattered, he lost his spot on the tennis team and any hope that he could win a scholarship to the college of his choice. His girlfriend leaves, he no longer fits in with his group of “friends,” and everything changes.

At the start of his senior year, Ezra’s knee is still damaged, possibly beyond all recovery. Ezra makes changes to his life. He joins the debate team, picks up an old friendship—which ended in something of a tragedy—and begins to fall in love with someone new: Cassidy Thorpe.

Cassidy’s intelligence, philosophical ideas, and wit draw Ezra to her. But once they become a couple, Cassidy’s mood swings threaten to set off in Ezra something far worse than his physical accident.

Ezra is in for the emotional crash of his life.

Robyn Schneider was born in a motel room in Miami, Florida, but has never lived in Florida. Since that exciting very first day, she has pretty much been on the move, living in New York City; Brooklyn, New York; London, England; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Orange County, California. She graduated from Columbia University with a degree in creative writing, and from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, studying medical ethics.

Now 27 years old, Robyn is a bioethicist, actress, author, video blogger, pop culture nerd, literature geek, and a trivia enthusiast. Under her literary alter ego, Violet Haberdasher, she wrote the Knightley Academy series.

The Beginning of Everything is a totally embellished and wildly unfaithful autobiographical adaptation of eight years of Robyn’s life. In the book, those eight years are condensed into eight months of a boy’s life! Robyn jokes that she shares the same soul with her character Ezra.

The book she is working on now will go back to her medical training. She is also working on a concept for a television show. Los Angeles, California, is Robyn’s real home, but she feels equally at home anywhere on the Internet.
