The Girl from Felony Bay (Felony Bay Mystery, Book 1)

about the book

Abbey Force and her father used to live at a place called Reward Plantation near Charleston, South Carolina, by Felony Bay. Felony Bay, with DO NOT ENTER and NO TRESPASSING signs all around, with holes dug around and in it with no explanation why. She used to live there, but then her father was found unconscious, surrounded by stolen jewels.

Could her father really be a jewel thief? Abbey doesn’t think so.

But since her father has been in a coma for the last year after being found with the jewels, he can’t really plead his own case. The family had to sell Reward Plantation, and now Abbey lives on Leadenwah Island with her less-than-understanding aunt and uncle. Her relief comes, oddly enough, through a new friendship with the girl whose family bought the Plantation, Bee Force. Yes, they have the same last name….

Bee is just as curious about Felony Bay as Abbey, about the holes—and the possibility that someone is searching there for buried treasure. Could this have something to do with Abbey’s father and the jewels he is said to have stolen?

J.E. Thompson says he has always had stories in his head, and now he is finally at a place in life where he can write them and sell them.

His day begins with a cup of coffee, then a sit-down and a putting of words on the page. He loves writing thrillers for adults and mysteries for middle school kids—he likes that age group because his daughter was twelve when he wrote his first book.

J.E. was born in the Midwest and attended Middlebury College, where he first became fascinated with writing. He worked in New York City for a long time, but now he and his wife and daughter live in Charleston, South Carolina, with Lulu the Boykin Spaniel and a badly behaved Jack Russell named Mr. Bean.
