about the book

Theo is finally getting her life back on track after her best friend, Donovan, was abducted four years ago. She’s eating again, dating, and she’s on her way to becoming one of the few African American professional ballet dancers.

Then, as she’s recovering from a bout of anorexia and preparing for a high-stakes audition, her world is upended.

Donovan is back.

She never thought she’d see him again. Soon she’s reliving memories of his abduction—and his abductor.

Will Theo keep quiet about a truth she’s realized or will she risk everything by speaking up?

teachingbooks-bookabout the author

Brandy Colbert was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri. She has dozens of notebooks filled with stories she wrote as a child, evidence that she knew she wanted to work with words from an early age.

In both middle school and high school, Brandy was very involved in various activities: cheerleading, clarinet, track, dance, and yearbook staff. She even had a part-time job at a hardware store!

After taking a break from writing during and after college—where she earned a degree in journalism—Brandy began seriously writing for publication in 2006. She’d write after work and on the weekends after writing and editing for her full-time job. It took a lot of time and work to find the right agent to represent her, but finally, three days after being laid off from her job as a business writer, Brandy had an agent. Then while moving from Chicago to Los Angeles, she sold Pointe.

Brandy currently works in LA as a copy editor for both books and magazines. She’s also working on her next novel.
