about the book
Eight-year-old Drake was too busy digging up onions to see the king’s soldier coming. Before he knew it, he was on the back of the soldier’s horse.
“‘…Where are you taking my boy?’” his mother yelled.
“‘To King Roland…The king has chosen him.’”
At the castle, Drake learns he’ll be trained as a Dragon Master alongside three others. (He’d always thought dragons weren’t real.)
Once at the castle, Drake meets his dragon and must forge a connection in order to be successful. Does he have what it takes to become a true Dragon Master?
about the author
When Tracey West was a kid in small town New Jersey, she and her two younger siblings were glued to the TV watching cartoons on Saturday mornings. She also spent a lot of time riding her bike, playing kickball, and sledding.
In the summer, she’d walk to the library, check out as many books as she could carry, and read all of them under a shady tree.
Somehow Tracey’s love of cartoons and her English degrees landed her the job of writing Pokémon books. She’s also written Power Puff Girls, SpongeBob SquarePants, and several other licensed series. In addition, Tracey has her own original series, Pixie Tricks and Dragon Masters.
Tracey has over 200 titles published!
When she’s not writing, Tracey can be found reading, gardening, hiking, watching cartoons, and walking her dogs.
She lives in Pearl River, New York, with her husband, three step-children, two dogs, seven chickens, and one cat.

about the illustrator
Graham Howells was born in Antwerp, Belgium. His early years were spent moving around to Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, and finally west Wales because of his father’s military career.
Since he liked both art and English at school, Graham turned to illustration. He particularly enjoys themes of myth and magic, so he’s drawn quite a few wizards, dragons, and various other magical creatures.
His work can be seen in children’s books, film, television, and board games.
Graham lives in Wales with his wife, two sons, a goldfish, and a nasty hamster.
