about the book
Have you ever been flying a kite near a tree, and got the kite stuck? Floyd sure has.
Have you tried to throw things at it to get the kite un-stuck? Floyd sure has.
Floyd first tried a shoe. It got stuck. So did his other shoe when he threw that. Then his house door, an orangutan, and a boat follow—all getting stuck up there in the tree with Floyd’s kite.
What will Floyd not throw to get his kite down?
about the author/illustrator
Oliver Jeffers was born in Port Hedland, Australia, raised in Belfast, Ireland, educated at the University of Ulster, and now lives in Brooklyn, New York. There is something about the creative energy in New York City that is very appealing to him, he says.
Oliver’s activities include making stuff—like a picture book, drawings, things he calls “art,” and lists of things other things to make.
If he were not an artist and author, Oliver thinks “tree surgeon” might be a nice gig— then he could climb trees for professional reasons!
When he’s not being modest, Oliver will admit that his art has been exhibited in a lot of places, like London, New York, Dublin, Washington DC, Sydney, and Belfast.
