about the book
Mr. Morris Lessmore loves books. He has a whole library of them in his house. But what’s more is that Morris loves stories! He even loves the little words that make up the stories in his books. Even the stories that aren’t really happy stories.
All that is taken away from him in a terrible hurricane. Morris is whirled around through the air, like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, and ends up…somewhere else.
Morris meets a pretty lady in a strange land, who leads him to the most unusual of libraries. Here the books are alive! They fly around on their covers, and even read themselves to Morris before he goes to bed!
Will Morris ever want to leave this place?
