about the book
Alice is an obedient, studious, and polite twelve-year-old. So when her father goes on a business trip before she can ask him about the fairy that was threatening him, she doesn’t know what to do. He’s always insisted that fairies weren’t real.
After her father’s ship goes down in a storm, she is sent to live with her uncle Geryon. She’s never even heard of him!
The only instruction she’s given is that the library is forbidden. This should be an easy enough rule to follow, but then she meets a talking cat and an arrogant boy who challenge her to open a book from the library.
Since she’s a reader, this is one challenge she won’t pass up. But now she’s trapped inside the book! And the only way out is to defeat the creature imprisoned within…
about the author
Django Wexler is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh with degrees in both creative writing and computer science. For a time he worked in artificial intelligence research, but he now works for Microsoft in Seattle.
He is a science-fiction/fantasy nerd who likes books, video-games, and RPGs.
Tomo and Sakaki, his two cats, are nothing alike. Tomo is super friendly and relaxed. In fact, he’s probably part stuffed animal because he loves being picked up and carried. Sakaki, however, is skittish and terrified of everything.
When Django isn’t writing, he’s wrangling computers, painting tiny soldiers, and playing all sorts of games.
