about the book

Addison Stone was a small-town girl with dreams of being an artist. Her incredible talent landed her an agent almost the instant she left Rhode Island for New York when she was seventeen.

She rapidly became a rising star. And just as quickly she fell—drowned to be exact. Was it an accident? Suicide? Murder?

Enclosed is my research into Addison’s life: interviews with those who knew her best—close friends, family, teachers, mentors, art dealers, boyfriends, and critics—as well as newspaper articles and reproductions of Addison’s artwork.

I hope I can shed new light on what really happened the night of July 28.

teachingbooks-bookabout the author

Two-time National Book Award Finalist, Adele Griffin moved around a lot growing up. Somehow, they always lived near the water. She thinks it was the water that inspired her first stories, which were all about mermaids with normal problems.

Adele has written both middle grade and young adult novels. Her works include Sons of Liberty, Where I Want to Be, the Witch Twin series, and the Vampire Island series.

Thriller Loud Awake and Lost, was inspired by the time her brother Robert was in a terrible car accident and lost his memory of the weeks just before the accident.

Interestingly, The Unfinished Life of Addison Stone, a fictional biography of a rising star artist who fell just as quickly, originally wasn’t going to feature a visual Addison. Instead it was going to showcase more of Addison’s artwork. But then Adele met Giza LaGarce at a Game of Thrones party, and Adele knew she was looking at Addison Stone. Giza went on to portray Addison in the book, which incorporates newspaper articles, interviews, and pictures of the fictional Addison.

Adele has lived in New York her entire adult life. She and her husband have two children and a dog.
