about the book

Bird Barrett sings backup and plays the fiddle in her family’s bluegrass band. Her childhood was spent on the road, touring across the US, playing at local venues. Needless to say, her family is extremely close, especially when they all pile into Winnie, their beloved RV.

One night, while Bird was filling in on lead vocals for her dad, a talent scout notices her! She’s even offered a contract with a record company!

But the contract is only for Bird, not the entire family.

The Barretts relocate to Nashville so Bird can begin working on her music, putting their careers on hold and creating tension within the family.

With fans, paparazzi, and her longtime crush taking notice, will Bird be able to stay true to her roots?

about the author

Alecia Whitaker knows more about cows, tobacco, frog gigging, and carpentry than the average girl because she grew up in Cynthiana, Kentucky.

Somehow, she’s always been confident and unafraid of rejection (which helps in her line of work), even though she was bullied every day during fifth grade. After being reassured of her worth every night by her parents, she would go back to school with her chin up and treat the bully with kindness.

Alecia graduated from the University of Kentucky with degrees in Theatre and Advertising, but has always loved writing. She’s been in a lot of commercials, a few small theatre productions, and poetry slams. She’s even appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on multiple occasions and was a contestant on the game shows Deal or No Deal and Let’s Ask America.

She loves Taylor Swift and the TV show Nashville.

Alecia currently lives in New York City with her husband and two sons.
